I think it depends somewhat on your climate. I plant mine here in Spring and harvest late Summer. I may try a Fall planting this year to see if it gives me bigger bulbs.Raiquee said:Also another question, is this a plant to harvest in spring or do they grow through summer? If they are early spring harvest maybe I will fill a corner of my bed with them once my spring/summer plants are spent.
At any rate the garlic itself tells you when to harvest. The tops begin dying off. When more than 60% of the green is gone you can harvest. You can wait till it's about all gone but no longer than that. If you wait too long and get very wet weather it could rot.
