They are a 'for profit' company, if they see an option to make more money they'll do it.

If those items they sell as 'natural' were 'correctly labelled' and not greenwashed, they would take a different stand.

Companies like WholeFoods should not have a say in Ag... they are just a middle man in the market. They do NOT make these decisions as ok for customers... customers need to stop being dumb, and educate themselves before its too late. (Which it pretty much is!)

Whole Foods has always tried to give the impresion of being organic without actually doing it. They talk the talk but don't walk the walk.

They're really pricey for the products not being real organic stuff. I'd rather go to Trader Joe's.

You are 100% correct on this. While they do support local producers and fair trade practices, they also sell conventional food as well. It's all about profit. From what I see in thier stores is that they have some people who shop there for organic food because they want to and some people who shop there because it's the "hip" thing to do.

There are other organic grocers that are in it because it's the right thing to do and they are much smaller because of it, but at least they are happy.

I have been boycotting organic valley for a while. I added Whole Paycheck to my list of places that will never ever ever get money from me again.

Not that I shop there a lot since Vitamin Cottage is closer, but still. If I was in the neighborhood I would stop in and see if they had any good produce on sale. I even made a few special trips out there last fall for Honey Crisp apples. Never again.

It was a frustrating store because it did market itself as a healthy food store but it was loaded with tons of processed crap! Even their diary was mostly ultra-pasteurized garbage. The one non-homog, low temp vat pasteurized milk they had was always sold out. Not only that the dairy case had more so yin it than real milk :sick
