@baymule, when you said purple sweet potatoes you weren't kidding. that looks good, gonna have to try it. We will be having Thanksgiving on Friday this year, middle sis has to work Thursday and since this is the first holiday for us since mom passed we kind of all wanted to be together. I'm roasting/smoking a little pig that the neighbor harvested from my back woods and sil is going to deep fry a turkey per my request and the sisters and their families are going to bring all the gowiths. looking forward to it. you all have a blessed thanksgiving. and nyboy you should have your soup recipe written down in case someone asks for it.

Hey @digitS' , I made a test run of the rhubarb dressing and it turned out good! DH really liked it, so I'll be making it for our guests.
I tossed a handful of fresh cranberries in for color and they added a nice spark. next time I will thaw the rhubarb earlier and make sure they drain a little more thoroughly. It was a tad too moist.
If I can remember next spring I'd like to try it with fresh and see how it is.

Got this in email this morning & thought I'd share...

"I'm no cook, but I can follow directions. They said to let the bird chill in the sink for a few hours, so that exactly what he's doing."

Oh my gosh! That is so funny!!! I busted out laughing on this one! I needed that laugh, my DH somehow managed to toss my leftover sweet potato casserole dish out of the car trunk, it hit the pavement and exploded. The only bright side of that is that he didn't get any at the dinner at my sister's and was looking forward to a big bowl of it tonight. Hahaha!

YUM-O I think I need that recipe. Can you share please?
Ummmm.......I don't usually measure, I just pile in the middle of it and get to cooking, but here goes.

I peeled and cubed one really big purple sweet potato and several medium sized orange sweet potatoes. I dredged them through melted duck fat and spread on a cookie sheet. I baked them at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. I did that so they wouldn't get mushy. I zested a navel orange, then peeled it. I separated the sections, slit the inside tip of each membrane and peeled the orange section, tossed membranes to big black drooling dog, saying Alligator! each time so he knows to open wide. SNAP!

Hmm...about a half cup of broken pecan pieces. Maybe a 1/4 cup of honey, 1/4 cup brown sugar..... two shakes of the mace spice jar and one shake of the ground cloves spice jar. Cinnamon-LOTS of that! Sing, "Shake Shake Shake, Shake your booty! (about 7 shakes) :gig Dump in the orange zest and orangs sections, stir it up, dump in the sweet potato chunks and coat well with the spice mix.

Spread in a pyrex dish and bake at 350 for 30 -45 minutes or when the honey gooey stuff is bubbling. You can put marshmallows on top if you want to.
I think that's all I did to it. :thumbsup
