Thanks Steve... I love you pointing this out. This year since I started gardening (which I have a HIGH veggie and fruit diet anyways) I have decided to add to my healthy living. I have joined a gym... I do yoga once a week and weight training once a week... and I cycle 2-3 miles twice a week. However, with all this ABUNDANCE of veggies and fruit, I have gained 5lbs! LOL

Its a good way of life living truely healthy... plus the work out to your body just gardening itself is amazing. I hope I'm still doing this when I'm 70!
The weight gain is all the muscle you've put on!

I do it just because I love it. Any produce from the garden is a separate, and welcome, side benefit.

I do this because I can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a need a strong desire to do something to create to be. And gardening and the rest of my mini homesteading endeavors (the ducks and the bunnies) allows me to feel alive. Like I live rather than exist.

I see a lot of people go through life without living. They don't question themselves or others and I don't want that to be me. I can grow a watermelon and when I do I will figure on what else I need to do tom grow a bigger better one.

I think Plato (or was it Aristole) said the unexamined life is not worth living... I totally believe in that. And so I garden. I create.

And, isn't it quite remarkable that it doesn't matter who said that, Obsessed. After all, the idea is to examine and create your life, as self-expression .

Hi there! :frow

I do it because I learnt many years ago (at my grandmothers knee) that it gave me pleasure, as it did her.

I do it because, along with keeping chickens it saved my life, at a very dark point of my life when I might have toppled over the edge!

I do it for exercise -- both for my mind as well as my body.

I certainly do it for the food I produce, all those delicious treats that I would find hard to afford if I had to buy them from the expensive supermarket who deliver to me or I would have to carry home from the market.

I do it because it makes me want to eat more vegetables & fruit rather than biscuits & chocolate.

I do it because I love the challenge of growing something which is difficult or new to me.

I completely agree!!! That is a wonderful view Obesessed!

(P.s. - Thanks to you I was able to cook our first duck we raised, that was a HUGE step I was afraid to take.)

I do it for the peace it gives me...

for the food it gives me...

for the pleasure it gives me...

for the exercise it makes me do...

I have been doing it for 60 years...

I will be doing it until I can not lift the watering can
