And hopefully not plugging other things into the socket. As a very young child, I would pick up bobby pins off the floor, bite off the plastic tips (apparently I already had a rudimentary understanding of electrical insulation) and plug them into the outlet to turn the lights off. My mother probably wondered what kept blowing the fuses, not sure if she ever realized what I was doing - or she might have been more careful with the bobby pins. It's a miracle I never electrocuted myself. Funny how I then went on to follow a career in electronics... hair of the dog, I guess.She's also taken to unplugging lamps and other things....then trying to plug them back in. NOT good.
Needless to say, ditto on @flowerbug 's recommendation for outlet covers.
