Why do u like that pepper?
Taste great, and most bells only make one or two peppers for me in a season, but the maraconi make lots, sorta like banana peppers(for prolific) but bigger

I haven't used any BT yet Journey. The more I look at it, I think the damage on the lower leaves is actually slug damage. I'm going to spread some DE after work today. With all of the rain we are getting I don't know how well it will help.

The Marconis are also my favorite pepper. If you pick them before they turn completely red, they have a nice sweet/smokey flavor.

Major fawcett, Your garden is coming along nicely so far, does the DE sem to be working?
I grew some red Marconis last year and did not have much luck,so Did not plant any this year. maybe we will try them again next year since everyone seems to like them, maybe it was just a non marconi year last time LOL...:)

First sowing of peas have just started to produce. I had just about enuf snap peas to fill a shirt pocket, yesterday. There won't be a whole lot this year altho' the vines have grown well.

I never know what the peas will do. There's a 2nd planting but they are shorter and hastening to flower. I might be able to get both sowings harvested and out in time to plant more green beans! Those are pole bean teepees behind the pea trellis. Believe it or not, there is a row of tomatoes between the peas & beans. Think I'd better get something shorter in this bed soon as the tomato plants aren't getting their full share of the sunlight.

I'm going to try your trellis system next year, Steve. I always have trouble keeping mine up.

There are folks at the farmers' market who will appreciate them :).

Peas are a real favorite and easy to process for the freezer.

For me, I think snap peas have been the most important garden introduction in my lifetime.

Showing your pea trellis To DH. That is really nice! You sell at the farmer's market? How many of the peas do you keep? I am starting to think I would have to plant my whole garden in peas to get enough to eat and freeze. My friend in Kansas said she would never grow peas again because you do not get anything.

Yep, garden surplus goes to the farmers' market. That way we have $ to buy broccoli from the soopermarket during the winter ;).

I don't know what we keep. We have 2 freezers - they must be really working hard on this hot day! One is just for veggies and it will be filled.

No. Peas are not very productive. I think that is a good reason to grow snap peas so that the pods (and the seeds) have use. Also, the plants don't occupy their garden space for very long. Even if I can't get the 2nd planting of peas out soon enuf to plant beans - that bed will be available for Asian greens in August.
