This morning I did the rest of the soybeans, pulling up the plants as I went. Then processed & vacuum packed/froze them.
Harvested another 2 tubs of tomatoes. Then some green beans, eggplant & cucumbers. At this point I only need to make 1 more batch of spaghetti sauce (which we will can) so the remaining tomatoes will be given to friends for their use. This has been a very good season for tomatoes & half are yet to ripen!!!
While shopping this morning, I picked up 6 ears of sweet corn. I stripped the kernels off of the cob & mixed them with fresh soybeans (that I held back from yesterday) to make succotash.
It's so hot, this is all we are having for supper along with sliced tomatoes & cucumber spears...
It's 98 degrees on the covered back porch & the fan doesn't help at all... heat index is 107.1 degrees. I'll be watering for sure at sun up tomorrow...
We got a couple of showers from the tropical storm, and it did cool things off a bit. My husband tended the smoker pit all day yesterday while I ground pork from the hog we raised, and made sausage. we smoked the bacon and the stuffed sausage I made. Our supper tonight was a smoked pork sausage on a bun with home made pickles and home grown onions. Dang it was good!
Yesterday I roasted the tomatoes & this morning I finished the last batch of spaghetti sauce. This batch was canned afterwards (one jar lid didn't 'plink' so Mrs. Ranch froze it)...
