sunshine yesterday but clear overnight meant cool this morning (had to turn the heat on for Mom). today is clear and sunny with temps up to 77F. some nights this coming week will be cool down near 40F. chances of rain starting Saturday night so i need to get everything dry picked before then.

i need to start (well i've already done some of that) to get the gardens weeded and ready for W*T*R... i finished weeding and picking the last of what i'll get from that garden the other day, so that's ready to be slightly trenched and debris buried and it raked to look tidy.

Frost on the car, frost on the front lawn – likely damage to the dahlias out there.

Running sprinklers on the veggies by alternating 4. One sprinkler is on 120 feet of hose, limiting pressure. Surprising how much difference for one on 50' hose.

Supposed to be rain by weekend , which will help for warmer temperatures.

Chilly and wet grass this am. , sunshine and high temps 76F and low night temps 47F.

getting close, we're already a ways past our normal first frost date - sure i won't mind a few more weeks but we probably won't get that much.

Nothing I would ever have said in the past, but this year I'm sick of summer and looking forward to frost. In fact I'd welcome a hard freeze at this point. I'd like to get the last of my outdoor work finished so as to turn my attention to indoor projects, but most of what is left to do outside requires plants in pots to die. I don't want to empty living plants out of their containers, even if they have gotten scraggly and beat-up looking, while they still possess some color.

today was the perfect day. i woke up way early because i fell asleep early. then i managed to get back to sleep for a few more hours. had breakfast and then puttered around inside until t warmed up enough to go outside except i got sidetracked and then Mom laid down for a break and her snores must have put me out because then i woke up yet again about an hour later. so i'd missed the early afternoon and had a large garden to get done as my goal for the day so went out and got to it.

worked out well and the temperature was perfect and a decent enough breeze to keep me from overheating too much. garden is mostly put up but i need to move some dirt into another garden that isn't ready yet so it's not completely done yet, take a few yards and move it, i don't want to get a wheelbarrow out, but i probably will because buckets will take too long when i need to do this... ok, that's a good plan, actually use a wheelbarrow for a change... my best thinking is usually at night, later. like now...

as for the weather, still on track for chances of rain tomorrow night. some nights into the upper 30sF in the forecast now for next week. brrrrr!

two nights of frosty weather, but the daytime temperatures are back into the 60sF and sunny. tomorrow we get warmer to 79F (warmest day of the week) and then back to mid 60F on Saturday with more sun until later in the evening we get chances of rain... then mixed weather next week with some chances of rains and days down into the highs being up to the mid-50sF. so pretty much normal fall weather (all over the place ).
