Linux made me a very happy camper when i stopped working at the university but still wanted an actual command line oriented system (not that it has to be as i also have a desktop where i can put as many terminals and groups as i want).
I'd thought I'd need to learn scripting when I switched to Linux, and even dutifully watched a few videos and took notes, but found I've been able to pretty much use the graphical interface, so I gave up the effort.

i just liked that i could continue to do things i'd always been used to doing and having various language compilers and interpreters and the normal tools i was used to having. i didn't have to spend any $ to buy them as they were available and continue to be available even now all these years later.

i do see a lot of efforts in recent years to get captured audiences and then exploit them.

"perform slow indirect evil" CS degree + 1/2 masters plus a ton of math and other sciences... the only one on that page i did not really like was economics, but that had a lot to do with the instructor (he read the book to us as the lectures) - his voice was as dry and monotone as popcorn in a pillowcase.

DD's think my expertise in putting these on is Magic!
Folding them is also magic.
If you can fold a tent, you can fold a fitted sheet.
I guess you need to be a perfectionist to find pleasure it putting a fitted sheet on a mattress.
I pull and straighten under the corners and then lift the mattress on the sides to push that part under, too.
When you do the fitted sheet right, the bed feels like heaven.

I wanted to be a marine biologist but quickly realized I hated deep water. Ended up in a completely different field, but I still love learning about ocean life from a distance!

i've had reef aquariums and really enjoyed it and all the little critters i could watch. i didn't even have fish in there for a long time as i didn't want the smaller interesting animals to get eaten.

i get very motion sick very easy so my aspirations for marine biology didn't get far, but i still watch reef recovery videos once in a while. i'm also pretty sure that if i'd gotten into it i'd have done something stupid or got eaten by a shark already or something... so probably better for me and the shark...

at least the gardens don't move that much that often and if i do something stupid i won't drown.

OK, no thesis here, BUT, got a King sized bed, replaced a Queen, so I needed sheets. Bought 2 sets, asked for sets for Christmas (3 years ago,) had an incident with Downey Unstoppables (TERRIBLE HIVES!!:eek:,) bought 2 more white sets bc I could bleach them--no hives, and no fabric softener EVER AGAIN!!, cleaned out guest bedroom closet and found 4 full and partial King sheet sets from before we moved and had a King Then...
Anyway, I have 14 full sets now--I know, who NEEDS 14 sets of sheets?!?!?
I actually Could have 17 full sets of sheets. Just bought fabric for extra pillowcases to complete them.
ANYWAY, a normal King mattress is not square, it is a rectangle that Looks square.
IF your King fitted sheets have stripes (color on color) you Know how to put it on.
If NOT, you guess.
I make our bed every day and pull the fitted sheet at the corners to get rid of any wrinkles, and change the sheets every 2 weeks.
For the replacement fitted sheets that are not striped, I started measuring with a metal measuring tape and stitching on 2 corners, with old cherry red thread, before I removed to wash the set. Next time I will know exactly how to put that fitted sheet on the mattress.
Yes, it IS WORTH THE TIME AND EFFORT!!!
13 sets of sheets, changed every 2 weeks, and every set gets used 4x/yr.
I am not crazy...just detailed oriented.

I told this story at dinner and Eldest DD said..."I have stopped listening..."😜
