Red can you post a photo of your cart? Chickie I had a cart like yours. I asked my nephew to move some boulders, heavy weight thrown into plastic bed NOT good. It was a good cart and should of had a better ending.

I will later today. It is stored in the temporary storage I put up this fall. We've moved lots of rocks, wood, soil, leaves, grands and just about everything else in this work horse.

This is @Smart Red 's wheelbarrow here in the foreground.

Red is in the blue dress. The wheelbarrow is reserved for her guests.

I should mention that I have more than that one wheelbarrow. I bought a wheelbarrow and added a second wheel so I can use it. If I'd have known digitS' was posting my oldest wheelbarrow I would have taken a photo of the new one, too.

Here's the work horse. I hook it to the lawn tractor, but DH pulls and pushes the thing all over the yard by hand.

We bought it from its original owner when he retired and moved North. It was 11 years old at the time we got it. We've had it for 40 years now. I did buy some paint so I could sandblast and repaint it, but as you can see, that's not been done.

Also in the photo, my new 12x20 shed/garage/tent filled with all the things that have no home yet, and some of the blocks I discussed in another thread on good deals.

He was. Always has been active and hard working, however, the cart is well balanced and, while not easy, it is not all that hard either. Of course, full is another deal entirely. He usually ends up pushing the full cart around the hay field to the gully when dumping a load of leaves or brush. Pushing is easier.

As much as possible I've tried to be out with the tractor when he's doing that sort of work so I can make his work easier. When the cart is too heavy for hauling, he's doing it with the wheelbarrows. A wheelbarrow full of logs is NOT an easy thing to push up-hill to the burn pile and many of the trees he's picked up piece-by-piece 3 to 5 times before they are gone.

All-in-all, though, it is a good thing. He loves working hard and keeping his muscles and body in shape. Now I doubt there will be much work done at all. He's easily tired and when his muscles are tire he gets unsteady and can't walk straight.

I can't believe that cart has lasted that many years. Even looks like the rust hasn't gone through and made holes. They just don't make things like they used too. Painting would help preserve it for many more years of use. You got lucky on that one SmartRed!
