Today is DW's birthday.

A tea-totaller, she is already up and has a cup of spearmint & chamomile. I may be having an influence in that she isn't drinking coffee.

She would not have taken kindly to me being hungover, this morning. Of course, 1 alcoholic drink makes me sleepy ... midnight shouldn't arrive 8 hours after sunset! Or, maybe it should, or sumthin. See, I'm confused without the partying ...

I blame @dickiebird and trying to figure out why he has DSL but no telephone.

Give my best wishes to your DW, Steve. I'll charge you with making her birthday a good one, and expect nothing short of that.

Any problems with being a New Year's baby? I know my mom always hated having her birthday just before Christmas. As long as she celebrates -- starts her birthday party -- on the Eve, she should have plenty of folks to party with her.

No, hung over on her birthday would not be good. Course, as far as I am concerned, being hung over on any day is not good. Celebrating LIFE need not be done by dulling one's senses!

It sure makes it easy for me.

I'm already in some kind of a shopping mode, at the lowest rev but it's the best I can do. Most people consider the 7 days before New Years as a holiday. Her B-day fits right in.

Not sure how people outside the household feel about it. Seems easy for them to remember.

Those Florida diners: It's because we are only eating twice a day.

DW was gone yesterday. I completely forgot about lunch. Of course, with Christmas candy and nuts, I wasn't hungry.

This was one reason I had the tape measure out and was mapping my 88' "track." She came home after 4 so we got around to dinner but sometimes don't. She had a good laugh to learn about my exercise program. What she has missed this morning is that I covered the distance of two football fields after breakfast ... single digitS' (outdoor temperature this morning ;)).

Happy Birthday to your DW Steve! My FIL shares a birth day with her.

I actually stayed up until midnight. I am quite the party animal though so it's not too surprising. DH wandered off to bed before 10 since he can't hold a candle to my celebratory ways....Lets see....I sat on the couch while the tv played reruns, but I did catch an interesting PBS Outdoor Idaho program that I haven't seen yet.

Had my little laptop on my lap (natch) and somehow got involved with looking up my moms side of the family which led to all sorts of detours out to twigs of the family tree. I can never remember details of these ancestral things, but I do find them interesting and try to imagine their lives.

The homestead that Great grandma and grampa worked is still owned by a branch of that side of the family, and still being worked. That branch of the family had the foresight and resources to buy up a lot of the homesteads in that area during hard times for others. They are doing pretty well for themselves these days it appears.

I don't watch any of those New Years Eve tv things (yaaawwnn ) but for some reason old reruns of Burns and Allen are pleasant as background for a late night.

I did catch the neighbors fireworks display by craning my neck and peering out a corner of the window. It looked like a good one but was much too cold to shuffle out to the driveway to get a proper look.
So it was Happy New Year and somebody please remind why I thought I should actually stay up late.
