That is great news, GwR. It seemed like too much of a coincidence that you had the chicken pox at the same time. I'd like to have them see if my dad can get off his Eliquis eventually. It is expensive!

The first bottle was over $100, but then I went back and the pharmacy gave me a coupon thing and called Eliquis and got it for $10 a month and then went back next time and it was free. Something to do with my insurance. I found this and a doctor should have known. If I can google so can they. lol Infections most frequently associated with antiphospholipid syndrome include parvovirus B19, cytomegalovirus, varicella-zoster virus, HIV, streptococcal and staphylococcal infections, gram-negative bacteria, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae.

Well it is Thursday. The test for family clotting disorder was negative, but elevated B2gp1 IgM and ACA IgM, but the titers have declined. The numbers in July when first tested were in 50s and now decreased to 30s. He said as long as these numbers are elevated I am at risk for a clot, so stay on the blood thinner 3 more months and retest until these levels go back to normal, which I have seen people put on a blood thinner for a year after a pulmonary embolism. I think one of the number is normal at 20 or less, so getting close. I asked if in the future all the numbers are normal and I am not on a blood thinner and I get something like shingles am I in danger of this happening again and he said no. Chickenpox was a systemic infection where shingles more localized. I hope he is right. I asked if there could be an underlying chronic thing causing these numbers to rise and he said no and just that the infection caused the clots and until the numbers are normal I am still at risk for clot. I am not sure if there is anything that can help the healing of this go faster. I think I understand what he is saying.

The doctor said something like - we don't know what to do with situations like this. Meaning those 2 elevated IgM levels. I think for some people they could be chronic and really no explaining why they are. I wonder how many older people have strokes or clots and never had these tests until after the event. I guess even if in 3 months these levels are normal, I am going to worry and just try to always be careful and not sit without moving around and eat garlic and may take up wine drinking. Lol

I went on line and got my hospital records and one of the numbers is now 27 down from 52 and normal is 20 and below, so that makes me feel better, but DD I saw her test results and she also has high platelet count and that is connected with more likely to have clots. High platelets in adults most likely cause is infection and inflammation. She had a sinus infection the week she got the test done and she has psoriasis. Eating raw garlic is one of the ways to lower high platelets.

I'm glad you are getting tested and that the results and doctor information is positive. I think even when we improve our condition, we will always still be a little nervous. Even after I had an "episode" while working out, the ER doctor said it was very unlikely that it would reoccur. I still worry about it a little bit. But perhaps, that is a good thing. It makes us more cautious.

Everything in moderation and check out "episodes." I will be careful from now on. I was thinking about how people age and I bet if you asked most people who live to be 100 if they ever jogged, lifted weights and most didn't. My uncle lived to be 90. I know he could ride a bike at 80, but not with exercise clothes and racing, just for fun. He loved to garden and eat. He was overweight most of his life. He was my dad's oldest brother and my dad called him fatty. He out lived my dad by 15 years. He went to the doctor for "episodes" and he was very calm and relaxed where my dad was always yelling at the news on TV, politics, religion and doctors. Lol

Well, 3 month test results today and numbers came down again, but still elevated. Beta 2 glycoprotein IgM is 31 and normal is 20 and less. Cardiolipin antibody IgM is 23 and normal is 20 and less. Also found out DH has a blood clot in the back of his knee. They taught me how to give him Lovenox injections today. I have a feeling he got this when he fell. He landed on his knees before hitting his head. Good news is his new cancer treatment is working well. Doctor said even if he had just stayed the same that would have been good, but he had 30% reduction in tumor size. So, for 3 months we are both on a blood thinner. At least I do not have a shot in my stomach twice daily and only a pill.
