I slept until 6:30! Normally I’m outside by then. I’m tired from mowing with the tractor yesterday, bouncing over ant hills and crawdad mounds. Muscles in back and shoulders are screaming at me! I went out in PJs to let dogs out on the field. On my second cup of coffee, then I’ll go do chores before church.

Wilma! Wilma!!

@Dahlia , "Yes I have seen the Flintstones ..."

I left the washing machine at "small load" with 2 bath towels and two hand towels to wash! Imma not gonna trust that it got all that soap out ... second rinse cycle and now my morning schedule is all in a mess!

;). Sheets, mattress cover are next ... ummm, separate loads. Good thing that there are two clothes lines and not as much wind as yesterday.

I've been thinking about the different kinds of gardeners. Maybe I could be called a "fresh food" gardener. I know, anyone who has a vegetable garden is likely to be someone who appreciates fresh food and they are likely to believe that they can do it better than the soopermarket. Well, good! I'm there. The sweetcorn was just about perfect for dinner, last night. The green beans are so tender. No need whatsoever to eat seedy cucumbers - toss 'em. Make another selection from the4 different varieties. Pampered. I'm so looking forward to the melons. They are nearly there ☺️.

I can one cup of coffee and decided I needed water. I had a good day yesterday. DS put the other AC in the kitchen and helped cool the house off. We did our shopping at several stores. I went to bed last night and at about 1:30 the rabbit started thumping. I have my window open because it is so hot. She has never thumped. The only rabbit was Lulu years ago, so this kind of worried me, so I got a flashlight and went outside and she was jumping around scared about something. I shinned the light around the yard and then thought, what the heck am I doing out here. A mountain lion had been spotted about 2 miles from me and a black bear taken out of the park which is just a few blocks from here. Something scared here. It could have bee a cat. My cat was in the house so I decided nothing to worry about because that sound would scare anything away. She kept it up off and on for about an hour and it took me until about 3:30 to get to sleep and then that crazy bird started its noise about 4:30. I went back to sleep and then my cat was meowing as loud as he could at 8 because I should have been up and fed him, so I am tired today. I went out and picked beans this morning. I saw a lot of squash and cherry tomatoes. I will go out tonight and bright stuff in and some cucumbers. We took a lot of stuff over to DD''s freezer so I would have more room. Then, DS and I bought wading pool for the girls and gave for early birthday present for Evelyn.

I think just about all animals can have bad dreams.

Good Morning. Wheaties with bananas and blueberries for the bowl, oolong for the cup. I don't know what has happened that it's oats or wheat every morning – what happened to the rice and corn? DW isn't much for corn hot cereal. I may have sabotaged her shopping by always calling it "mush."

Maybe I can think to buy a box the next time I'm in a store. Hate to have to wait for the next time I have Painted Mountain corn in the garden. I'm not sure how that might work since I have now downsized the garden and would have to do something to isolate the sweetcorn.

BTW, @Branching Out . when I did have Painted Mountain for a couple of years, I used @seedcorn 's suggestion to soak the grain overnight and then to use the food processor for grinding. I was able to make good guesses on proportions and made very tasty cornbread.

Midday and afternoon wind means an early trip to the garden to run sprinklers. The WS 's "suggestion" that we might have rain by Tuesday morning evaporated over the last 12 hours.

Hoping that the wind 🌬️ doesn't start too early.

@Gardening with Rabbits i hope you got a better nights sleep last night. I experience broken sleep far too often. Last night was a coyote night, dogs woke me up several times barking. Was up for a couple of hours, finally went back to sleep and woke up at 715. It throws me off for the whole day. Normally I’m awake by 5, outside by 6:30 and work until noonish when it gets too hot. Now it’s like I have a sleep hangover and I have no ambition. Oh well. Got to go to Lufkin to Lowe’s for Thompson water seal, to paint new treated boards that will be installed on flatbed trailer, the boards on it now are rotted. Always something!

I know what you mean about the whole day messed up and feeling like some sleep hangover. I shut my window last night and decided hot was better than the noise and slept all night and feel good today. I hope you get some sleep tonight. I get really behind on the weekends when DS is home and he wants to sleep in, so my schedule is off and too hot to do anything by the time I have had coffee and got dressed.

I woke up this morning and the bird is gone. It was here last night until about 5 and then when I went out later it was not in the garden and did not hear it the rest of the night. It did that the other day, but was back at daybreak. This morning, though it is not here, so now I am taking it back about being dumped here. I think it does travel somewhere but there are so many houses with dogs, I just do not see where it could go. It is not wild. I was out with some bird seed from the feeder and tossed it at the bird and it knew what I was doing like a chicken would. It gets too close to me. I am just happy it is gone.

I had coffee and I have been out and picked beans and getting ready to go finish a rag quilt. I have squash and beans to get ready to freeze and I am frying squash for lunch. I am going to pull some plants tomorrow. I can't walk and I need room to get to the tomatoes. I am hoping that when fall comes I will have all the plants out and start spreading some rabbit manure and run over some leaves with the mower and shop them up and cover the whole garden. I am going to plant a little bit of garlic this fall.

Try wearing earplugs. You will likely sleep better!
