Tamales for a 2nd breakfast.

DW made a mistake at the Mexican market over the weekend. She bought "sweet corn tamales." We didn't know that there was such a thing!

I had planned on 2 ears of corn and choy sum for dinner. "Wait! I thought these were chicken." Well, they taste okay - certainly for a breakfast for someone with "American tastes" for the meal.

I was trying to remember if I ever had enchiladas for breakfast as a kid. We certainly ate Dad's version of them quite often -- corn tortillas, chopped sweet onion (raw or cooked), grated cheese, tomato sauce, and a fried egg on top. A little Tabasco sauce and it was a meal. ;)

@digitS' enchiladas for breakfast is perfect for me or even tamales. :) this morning here for first and only breakfast was leftover lasagna and it was divine! :) if we'd had a larger pan of it i would have eaten more. it's been a while since we'd had anything like lasagna. even if it was made with elbow noodles... still good. :)

Good Afternoon everyone! I started mowing our yard today, only got the front done because it got too hot to quick but going to start the back EITHER tonight or early tomorrow AM.
Last Saturday we got a PIT BOSS Smoker/grill but not going to be here until 7/31 so just in time for us to use it once before we actually use it for the BBQ we are hosting on Aug 19. Practically the entire wedding party and other friends are going to be here that day. We didn't set the pool up over last weekend seeing how after we got done with most of our errands it was late afternoon on Saturday so we didn't get any sand but we are definitely getting it this weekend so the pool is going up this weekend. Yes, we could have gotten sand on Sunday but FH was starting the night shift for this week that night so we didn't go anywhere.
When we got home on Saturday I had a package waiting on the front steps. When I opened it , it was a ring box and card box. FH had to end up putting the card box together seeing how I got frustrated with it.

Good Morning. Playing catch-up and it can't be at a run these days so it may just amount to play. To further mix my metaphors: winding down is obvious.

Getting up at 2:30 isn't likely to help. I have to be moving sprinklers around in the big veggie garden and here at home. The narrow pattern of the home lawn and garden makes irrigation run longer. Even just focusing on the limited needs of lawngrass, with their shallow roots, means it is a 5+ hour process. My fault partly for putting in a greenhouse in the middle of things. Automatic system would be quite complex but I could simplify by mounting sprinklers on the roofs of house, greenhouse and garage ;).

Just kidding, and the first order of business is to get water to the distant garden! Harvesting will precede that. Starting a garden is easy but this is the harvest part. ;)

Well, I had my big glass of coffee this morning (cups are just too small*) when it hit me... a hot drink? NOW?? What are you, insane??? Hot & muggy today, we are expected to hit a record high today. Nothing like the triple-digit temps many of you are experiencing... but we aren't used to heat up here. Went out to pick some cukes & train some wayward vines onto their trellises, and was dripping wet in 30 minutes. Fortunately this heat is only for today, then back to low 80's tomorrow.

* Yeah I know they make bigger coffee cups (usually with some cute saying or photo) but I'd have to throw/give some glasses away to make room for one. I guess my zeal for coffee is lacking... and needs more coffee.

If I was to design a coffee cup, it would have on the bottom: "(a) go back to bed, (b) drink more coffee"
