On my second cup of coffee. Got company coming. Do I want to do the , “company coming” cleaning frenzy us women seem to be afflicted with, or get on the tractor and mow out a spot so I can proudly show them where I’m going to put the small barn?

My house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy. I think they’d rather see where the small barn is going to go.

Oregon Marionberry jam on French toast. Applesauce. Oolong. Herbal in the kettle.

Chickened out on setting tomatoes out. Too much wind forecast for Sunday. Additionally, the property owner doesn't know where the tool is to turn on irrigation. Shoulda checked to see if the water district workers have already turned it on but didn't think of that 🙄 🙄 . Calm winds only this AM. Not gonna go out and search someone's garage for the tool at 7AM despite the owner's permission to do that. Calm wind or Not.

Still, cabbage, sweetcorn, etc. will be desperate for water by Monday. Looks good in the forecast and tomatoes can join the others in the shower and test of the irrigation.

I got on my tractor and mowed out the place where small barn is going to go. I haven’t bush hogged or really even been on the tractor in I know 2 years or longer. it Felt good. Got barn spot mowed, then mowed driveway. Company will be here in 1 1/2 hours. Need a shower, then sweep floor ( thank you big black dog for bringing in dirt) and put the clean sheets that are still in the dryer, back on the bed.

My best friend died in January and her daughter who I have not seen since she was like 15 and is 40 something now with kids, texted DD that she wants to come to Idaho on a plane from Kansas with her 17-year-old daughter and her 7 year old daughter and SURPRISE ME. She told DD not to tell me, well DD and I don't play that game. DD is pretending not to have told me and she was going to help me kind of spruce up my place but she is sick and the kids and so I have been cleaning, but really I do not have money to do much. She told DD that she would like for DD to take me to a restaurant and they walk in and surprise me and DD said we don't have money for restaurants LOL so now I guess it i coffee shop or something, but we will have to bring the 3 kids. I almost thought well I know when they are coming and I could tear the kitchen apart and get my paint cans out and say OH you should have told me you were coming and I would not have started. WANT TO HELP PAINT? LOL I am just going to clean like a normal person and try to be happy, but really this has annoyed me some. DD and kids are basically well and the girls are coming Friday and I am going to have DD help me entertain. Her little girl might like playing with Evelyn and Izzy, but I think she has plans to sight see and I am not in to that at all.

When I moved out into the higher altitude sticks, thyme was the herb that did well (survived) for me.

I used it for a number of things in my cooking on & in a wood stove. Thyme is good in beef or chicken stew as well as soup.

You can also put it on a piece of buttered bread and put them in a toaster oven. (Something I didn't have in the sticks ;).
