I found a fantastic buy on a patio set yesterday-4 metal mesh chairs that rocked, a nice large oval table and an umbrella stand for only $100---AND I already have two chairs and a two seat glider that matched! I texted the number only to find out that it was already gone. I was crushed. Oh well.......win some lose some.

Today is our 20th anniversary. My husband asked what I wanted to do, I was already on Craigslist........ WOW!! A barn clean out!! FREE STUFF!!!! I texted and got the address. What do I want to do to celebrate our anniversary???? I WANNA GO SCROUNGING!!!

When I entered the address in my phone, another similar address popped up and I clicked on it without realizing it. So we set off, wound up on the wrong side of Interstate 20 looking for an address that didn't exist. Finally I scrolled back to the text and realized I screwed up. I corrected my mistake and we set off again. We found the place!

Most of it was pure junk. I spied a chick brooder in the back of a truck which happened to belong to the owner's mother. She scooped MY brooder! My husband talked her into selling it to us. While they haggled over price, I googled chick brooders. Rural King listed one section for $237.98 and this brooder had 3 sections, plus the bottom on rollers. My husband told the lady he'd give her $100 for the brooder and she said ok. I was about to scream my excitement, but stifled it. We loaded it up real quick, duct taped the trays down and hog tied the whole thing so nothing would blow out. Then we went scrounging for more.

WHOO-HOOOOOO!!!!!!

As we were going home, we passed through a nearby town and stopped at a café that we hadn't tried yet, for lunch. When we walked in, our neighbors were in a booth having lunch. I excitedly told Jennifer about my new acquisitions and that it was our 20th anniversary. Her husband, Jimmy, had to go show my husband the pictures on his phone of the great deal he found on a used Polaris Ranger, so we were a pretty jovial bunch. I did my victory dance over finding the chick brooder I don't mind making a complete fool of myself in public--my husband is used to it now.... and I asked Jennifer if she would rent out her husband for two dozen eggs to help us unload it. Naturally she said yes. They paid their bill and left. Another couple sitting opposite us had joined in the conversation and they paid their bill. The lady came over and told us happy anniversary and that when we walked in, she and her husband said that I looked hot. What a lovely compliment! Usually it is the ladies fawning all over my husband, telling him how good looking he is. This lady told my husband to hang onto me. I guess he will-where else could he enjoy my kind of crazy?

While I'm on a roll, a several weeks ago, we passed a resale shop in town that had these cool tractor seat home made barstools out front for $60 each. We tried to haggle the price down, but no go. We waited a couple of weeks, I mentioned that I really liked the barstools, so we went back. This time they were marked down a little, and my husband got both of them for $55!!!! I love them, they are just my style.

Oh my goodness, that must have been fun! I love going through stuff and not knowing what you will find. I think it was meant to be that you didn't get that patio furniture. That money was meant for your brooder and for you to find all that free stuff! :weee

Happy Anniversary you two!

Wow what a fun day! Happy 20th you crazy kids!

I have a comment on the lady in the cafe that said you looked hot.
Where was her southern hospitality? I mean she could have at least sprung for some ice cold sweet tea to cool you down, seeing as it was your anni and all. Maybe next time...

I want your barstools!

I have seen similar stools, where they took tractor seats and wielded them on metal milk cans. funny cause they where in a shop middle of NYC. Same place took a large wooden spool placed it on its side and called it a table.

Bay tip to clean very dirty pet carrier. Go to dollar store buy a can of bathroon cleaner, spray carrier with bathroom cleaner scrub with scrub brush hose off. Comes out like new. I have a friend who is a antique dealer he uses dollar store oven cleaner on heavy tarnish metal.
