I have to agree. I like rock walls and rock accents, but not rocks when I am digging the soil. BTW...did you know rocks are our #1 crop here is northeast PA?
Everybody better stop complaining about rocks in their soil- or our friend Steve will post a pick of his garden. Whenever I am tempted to cuss difficult digging...I think of Steve! That man gardens in rocks and grows all kinds of wonderfulness!
Lesa, you won't here me complaining about rocks. Don't have any. Despite gardening over a limestone quarry (circa early 1900's) I can't find a rock, stone, or pebble that I didn't accidentally bring in with some steer compost.
Nap time for grandson, got a few minutes so, today I'm moving a few plants around as my beds are getting too cluttered. I moved some hastas and dwarf lilies over by the chickens run. It drives them crazy seeing me shovel and they can't get to the worms lol, I tossed them a few. Going to work a bit in Jaya' s garden and then hope it's dry enough to pull a few weeds out of the vege garden. Beautiful day her in central Wisconsin. Hope everyone is enjoying their day and working safe.
So much has happened and so much to do. Thursday I threw out my back, this time it was so bad and painful that I couldn't move at all, just a horrible experience. Went to the emergency room, got doped up, and sent me home with 4 bottles of pills. I can walk without a cane today so good news there. For 5 days I felt completely useless and depressed and I realized how much I take for granted. Mobility is a wonderful thing! I am not a complainer when it comes to aches and pains, WHY? Because everyone has them just some are worse than others and normally I am not on the worse end thank God for that.
We completed our duck pond, before the injury, just in time too as we have 16 muscovy ducklings. We mulched around the entire pond it took 8 1/2 yards of mulch. So far I have pompous grass and yellow irises planted around the duck pond.
Tomorrow I am hoping I am able to move some more irises out of Jaya' s garden and plant some perennial and annual flowers I picked up. I know I can't over due it, don't want to end up like before.
We have had rain every day for the last 2 weeks it's actually closer to 3 weeks, the garden is happy.
I mulched my cabbage plants as suggested.
Tomorrow I will get some pictures, who likes to read all of this and not even get to see a picture lol. Take care
Thanks for the get well wishes. I put on my back belt and removed most of the irises out of Jaya' s garden, boy were there a lot, now where do I put them? Got a few annuals planted and some weeding but I figured I best not push it. Looks like hubby will be digging a few more holes around the duck pond.
It's a beautiful day today, no rain predicted until tomorrow.
Can't remember if I told you Midnight the pot bellied pig had 4 babies, only 3 made it though, complete surprise as we rehomed our boar, I guess there was some unknown hanky panky going on.
Here's a picture of the duck pond too.
Sorry not garden related but wanted to share. My 2 broody hens are hatching chicks as I write this plus I incubated and hatched some on Saturday, lots of chicks.
Well got my grandson to sleep so I think I will go get a few more things done outside.
Thanks for listening.
