Do You Leave A Light on at Night ?

I was just thinking about light bulbs the other day. We have light bulbs that haven't been changed for 13 years. They came with the house.
Sometimes I wonder if the fixture might have something to do with their early failure. The lights on either side of our garage are an example. They are both on the same switch, and so are always on the same length of time, but the one on the left has had to be replaced twice and the one on the right is the original bulb.

That has been a problem with "Tamper-Proof" smoke detector/CO2 units we are required to purchase for rentals because Big Brother feels adult tenants can't be trusted not to remove the batteries. The units are expensive because they are rated to last up to "ten years", but often go out in less then 6 months. Yup! Made in China.
