only 1 room in this 100+ year old house has 2 closets in it. the other 3 rooms have nothing for storage. 1 of those bedrooms was very tiny & i think it was probably a pantry since it is the only one on the 1st floor, but my dh said it was his bedroom at one time. how i don't know.

I once owned a home in which one bedroom had no closet.

It probably was no older than the one I live in now, but it was old. The 3 bedrooms were all of fairly good size.

Oddly, I suppose, that one room was off the kitchen but there was a very large utility room if they needed pantry space. More odd was that the other 2 bedrooms opened off the living room. And, oddest of all, to me anyway, the single bathroom door was in the dining room!

Ever have this happen You Ask, of course~it's the curse we all have! Ach,,,,,,,,,,I don't want to swear!
During WWII parts an or tools would go missing and it was said the gremlins took em. That thing you need, and you know you have, won't/can't be found until you gotten another one.

Ever happen to you? Rub it in, shove our face in it,~~ happened today. I went and bought a palm sander, no problem, now I'll have an easy time finding the one I have put away, in a safe place!

@digitS' i have that setup with the bathroom beside the dining room. can explain why the bathroom is so small & that little room beside it that belonged to my dh as a bedroom is small too. the dining room is huge at around 15'x15' (at least in comparison to other houses i've lived in-2 houses & 1 old house converted into an apartment/duplex)

our place has 1 room off the living room fairly large no closet the back bedrooms are all three
fairly large mine the master has a walk in closet and a bathroom and heat middle room has no heat
other room has standard closet no doors but has heat also.. then the last room is anyone guess
small would be closet no door built in shelves one next to the door and closet the other just in the door other side
but it also has a loft then that leads to the attic closed off..
the original house was built in 1930 added to in the 60's then remodeled again
in the 70's the original house the 60 remodel by the owner that built it

My funny little Coeur d'Alene home was quite comfortable despite the bedrooms seeming to enter from all directions. I wondered if the Japanese American farmers had anything to do with the building.

It was on land that had once been used for farming. The gold and silver rush began in the Coeur d'Alene mountains during the 19th century. Wyatt Earp showed up to keep the peace in Eagle, Idaho after the fracas at OK Corral. His brothers showed up there to run a saloon. Somehow, these vocations are linked rather closely in the Wild West.

Anyway, there was a need to feed all these prospectors, claim jumpers, ne'er-do-wells, criminals, and the camp-followers, trades & transport people who followed them up the canyons. The house wasn't built in the 1880's but it must not been more than a generation later.

I once related on TEG how access to the "utility area" from my current home's main bedroom must have been through what is now the closet. "New" rooms on a basement were added ... a long time ago, in this 115 year old home. A basement stairwell was built from that utility area. It took up part of the access. Wasn't much else to do with the remaining room except to use it as a closet. A "new" door was put into the bathroom, beside it.
