FREEZE WARNING

[Gardening with Rabbits]

For tonight. I am going to cover tomatoes, peppers, beans, squash, cucumbers. Are the rest of these okay - onions, lettuce, potatoes, kale, cabbage, beets, Swiss chard? What about blackberries and raspberries that have unripe fruit forming?

Can you turn a sprinkler on, GWR? With wind gusts above 30mph until after sunset, it may take some determination to cover many plants. I imagine that there would be a little damage to berry plants if it freezes but don't really know. It would be a shame if the potatoes are burned down.

Yes, I see that Newport may be 33°f and Cheney has a forecast of 34° by morning. At 2350ft, it's 350ft higher than my gardens BUT it's lower than Thistle's location. Forecast for the nearest weather station to me doesn't show a forecast temperature close to freezing.

I will be hovering over reports from the Weather Underground station a couple miles from the gardens, tomorrow morning. That's my plan. Hoping You Have the Best of Luck.

Thistlebloom's area looks for sure like it will freeze. I forgot, the potatoes would be hurt. I can turn the sprinkler on. I already covered squash, peppers, beans, but still have ends of rows to cover and all the tomatoes. The sprinkler would hit the blackberries, but not the raspberries and then the elderberries too. I watch the weather underground too. I also have a couple really close to me and I am in the middle. Good luck to you too!

(it is the middle of June)

I got all the tomatoes and peppers covered. Everything else will just have to hunker down.

We found some big tarps. Have tomatoes, peppers, beans, squash, cucumbers covered and a big tarp over the top of the potatoes. I can still hardly believe this. lol Good luck to you too thistlebloom! I don't understand the sprinkler way. I am afraid my sprinkler would not put out enough water.

Oh, bummer. I hope your plants survive. We've had peppers and tomatoes get some serious spring frost (not this year) and grow new leaves afterwards. I think the squash and cukes are more tender. Good luck with the weather!
