Drove home on icy roads last night, sans milk, bread and eggs of, course, and had a great time doing it. Unlike most folks, I kind of like driving in the snow, especially if I'm driving a 4WD with good tires. Something about the beauty of it all, the excitement and possible adventure of what could happen, the challenge of it, maybe. Been doing it since a teen on some very bad roads here in WV(twisty, slipped, potholes, narrow, high shoulders, you name it) and it never gets old to me, no matter how often I'm out there. Everywhere is far from here~work, town, schools, etc.~so one grows used to the inevitability of driving on snowy roads and it becomes old hat, in a manner of speaking.

What's funny is my 81 yr old Ma feels the same way and she just got her DL at the age of 75. Dad never let her get them before then, but we encouraged it and she did it...and now she drives these roads like a pro.

Oh, where was I going with all of that? Hmmmmm.....well...the reason we went to town was to drop a car off at the shop and visit with family. Visited all day until after dark and then slid home. Son was also visiting and just had a small ways to go to return home, did a 180 right in the middle of town..woohoo!!! Fun times. Glad he didn't hit anyone, though. Most people had the sense enough to stay at home. :gig

I taught my Mom to drive when she was 50. That was a little hairy! My parents never really fought. Except for the couple of times my Dad tried to teacher her to drive when I was very little. I would guess it was a stick shift. She took lessons from a professional and I helped her practice. She became a good driver.

Been snowing all day here...that pretty snow globe kind of snow at times, then driving blizzard kind of snow at other times. Wood is in, fire is warm, animals are fed and have heated water and have nice, snug places to shelter, and some really good homemade soup is on the stove. Bread is rising on the table, soon to be baked and filling the house with a mouth watering smell. Think I'll make some brownies too.

Hope everyone is snug and warm during the snows, safe trips home from work and all. :frow

dang Yankees you and your polar vortex's need to stop sending your cold weather down south... single digits this weekend at night...

yeap comfort food this weekend....
I was not planning on showing up, with or without DW. I can dream tho.

Snowdrops and crocuses might be fooled into blooming, soon. Then, the inevitable cold will come, blasting our early heralds of Spring. In Florida, it will be strawberry season ~ shortcake and waffles with berries and coffee ...
