Hello canesisters. :)

You have not missed it. I have posted about my animals and what I am growing, but the posts are awaiting moderation, probably due to their length.

All your posts should be working by now, Bluebonnet. You have over 10 messages. Don't forget, so far this thread is 3 pages. Your post about that may be on page 2 or 1.

That is the message that displays. There is nothing obscene or anything in the posts. They just answer the questions asked about my animals and what I am growing.

No idea what the hold up is.

Welcome! I also have chickens and horses, AND DH retired recently from 26 years of CW Reenacting. We did IL, MI and IN events and a great many National Events, including the 135th Gettysburg, which had 23,000 reenactors. (We also did the 1994 Red River Campaign, though we were pulled out midway, still it was a blast for the two of us!)
You are waaay ahead of me--I know of very few of the specific names of the vegetables I grow, just the common names: okra, beets, spinach, radishes, lettuces, etc.--oh, yeah!! cherry tomatoes, beefsteak tomatoes...
Still, this is BY FAR the friendliest and most useful forum for which I am a member. You will get great answers to questions, but during the growing season, it sometimes takes a few days for us to leave the garden and get online to answer. =b

Hello ducks4you. :)

This forum is very friendly. Mainly, I am interested in hunting down rare varieties to enjoy. That and trying to get certain apples to grow in my zone.

I do not wish to drag out War Between The States history, as it relates to taboo topics, but if you wish to converse via PM, please let me know.

Actually, IMHO it doesn't. Our group, "The Cumberland Guard" was Union, based out of Indianapolis. At some smaller events we rode as Confederate. The whole of both armies was more worthy, IN MY OPINION that most of Americans with their hands out today!! Most Confederate soldiers didn't own slaves and people didn't ask their neighbors to pay for them to live. Had we resolved the issue in 1787 instead of compromising, there would not have BEEN a Civil War.
We have also done a good deal of living history, but right now, my DH is writing historical fiction. He has written about 55 books, 4 of which are now e-published. There are several set before, during at after the "War Between the States", a stellar book set in the early 1900's, and a WWII series that has him captivated. One book turned into 3 and, I THINK there will be a 4th.

If only everyone took that view. My families were Confederate all the way through and I'm used to folks thinking I am some kind of supremacist for honoring their service. Both sides had their reasons and without a doubt, good men died for problems that were never accurately resolved.

I like War Between The States reenactments, but my favorite reenactments are Revolutionary War and The War Of 1812 reenactments, the latter of which are few and far between.

That is a whole lot of writing!

Also, I appreciate you taking the time to switch as both Union and Confederate, because many times the Confederate side does not have enough folks turn out and it makes things much more even when folks like you step up to fill the void.
