Pigs are scary to almost all horses, so Joes reaction was pretty normal.
A lot of competitions will use a penned pig to test a horses attention to it's rider. Glad you weren't injured Bay!

I've seen those kind of shoes before (at the time, I think they were called pony boots, but since there is now a boot company called Pony, I imagine they have a new name now)

There is no nice way to say this without lying, those boots...........are in fact fetish wear. They're SUPPOSED to be almost impossible to walk in; that gets some people off.

BTW, I understand that there are also such things as horse socks. Besides cloth coverings over the hoof (which basically serve the same function as most of the horse boots shown here). There is a kind of pad a farrier can put between the hoof and the shoe. Police horses are often fitted with them, both for extra cushioning (since they have to walk on tarmac and concrete, which are a lot tougher on their feet long term) and to add a little bit of extra height (handy for the officer when he's on watch).

Pads have been around forever. Usually it's for some type of hoof problem and the shoer will pack them with oakum. It's critical for the frog in the foot to have pressure, and even with packing pads shouldn't be a long term use.

No, but I have seen pictures of them as I have web searched, and if I followed through on the image source they were invariably on sites offering fetish/bondage wear. It is probably telling that the part of the boots that is not hoof is 1. patent leather/ vinyl and 2. black.

And the other part looks like it could be dangerous.
