Been very busy at the farm, trying to get water lines and a new 50 amp service ran from the barn to were we are going to keep the camper for a while. I dug it by hand, all 100 feet of it. Our frost line is 12" but I went 20" just to be on the safe side. Running two #8's and a #10 ground in 3/4" pvc conduit (Me and Majors language Lol). Also In the same trench 3/4" poly water line 160 psi @75 degree's. Its over kill BUT it will never see the light of day again LOL! I did get all my tomatoes and peppers started in pots, and 2 rows of beets planted. I feel like I've missed my opportunity in the garden this year, cause Im usually way ahead by now, but I hope to get back in the garden in a big way here soon.
And the adventure begins...… Sometimes getting things like water and electricity to where you want it is the important thing of the moment. I am behind on my garden too, and I already have water and electricity. LOL
Water and power out to the animals is a project we have discussed every year right before winter comes and I have extension cords strung all over for the animal water heaters. It doesn't ever seem quite as urgent in the spring when 117 other important projects are claiming our attention.
Water has to be a minimum of 4 feet here, and my neighbor who just did this two years ago with water and power advised 6'. I guarantee we wont be hand digging that, lol.
Our ground never freezes. We just make sure we put it deep enough so we don't accidentally dig it back up. We use a ditch witch. Too old to do a lot of hand digging.
Well as close to the building as I was, a trencher was out of the question. Now the 350' run to the main line at the bottom of the hill.....I will be using a trencher for that Lol. I needed the exercise anyway Lol.
