How exciting to start everything in a new place. Who needs/wants chickens when you can have a horse?!

Do you plan to live in the camper till you build?

Yes, and no, depends on how small it gets and how fast Lol. We are both determined to be debt free when we begin building our new house. I don't owe on much and can certainly be shed of that in a year or less. We came out well in the green on the house we sold, and that is going towards the note on this 20 acres. Once the house is built, my wife and I both agree, we will look at buying the 15 acres on the other side of the creek, and a few more acres on the other side of the road. But for now we're going on a long term camping trip Lol.

good luck on all that! sounds great to me. as busy as i am on almost 2 acres i doubt i could really keep up with more but it sure would be nice to have more of a buffer zone around us.

Great plans you have there. When we bought our cabin 25+ years ago, there was a parcel for sell next to it. We bought that too so that no one would build right next to us. Best decision ever.

Land in the area we bought is in high demand due to the scenery, and the lack of close proximity neighbors. My neighbor "Wink" has several "Hundred" acres. His family has owned it since the early 1800's. Used to farm it, now he boards horses. When I exit my drive way gates, first thing I get to see is several Appaloosa mares grazing in a huge pasture, old post and beam barns, Old construction farm house. He stopped by one day when I was putting up fence post and I invited him over anytime. He told me he plowed a mule a many a day on my land, crop was tobacco back then, He showed me where the family that share cropped lived there and where the old house place was. I could sit and talk to that ole man all day. I went were he said later and found several old medicine bottles and an old ford hub cap Lol.
Funny thing is I looked at buying this land 25 years ago, back then, just starting out, I couldn't afford it. Now it will always stay in our family, a place all of our kids and grandkids can always call home.

Do y'all plan on pouring a slab or building a house up on blocks?

Probably block, The curves of the lot we chose to build on has a subtle slope to left and front. We chose it to oversee gardens, and pasture when they get put in.

Last night was the first night we spent as permanent residents on the farm. I walked out the door this morning to go to work, the chickens were already in the yard foraging, They all looked at me at once Like "what are you doing here" uh oh we're busted Lol. I thought it was funny. I can get used to the peace and quite.

Blocks are a much easier DIY and cost less too.
I am happy for you and your wife that y'all are in your home now. No house maybe, but it will come, the important thing is you are home.

Finally caught up on the necessities of making life more comfortable in our temporary living quarters. Septic's systems in, Washer and dryer plumbed and wired, Driveway graded Lol. Time for some gardening updates......

Well everything that was planted has come up, including the weeds Lol. Although its 1/3rd the garden I normally plant, it still grows the same amount of weeds. I spent some time behind the tiller last few days, got it somewhat under control. Corn is doing well in the new area, the test row of butter beans have made it so far, no deer damage thanks to Bo on the prowl. Still need to do some weeding in the tomatoes' and corn. Planted 6 rows of Okra last week, planning on some purple hull peas right beside them.

Silver King corn....

Looking good! My garden is sporting rows of lamb's quarters and giant ragweed! LOL Your garden is so neat and well cared for.
