Miracle gro moisture control to start sunflower seeds?

My question is - Should I have planted my sunflower seeds in miracle gro moisture control potting soil? I didn't think anything about it until I read not to start tomato seeds in potting soil. Will all the fertilizers in the MG kill my sunflowers?

Ummm... I've never started my sunflower in pots and have them do well. But I start them directly in the ground most of the time. Sunflowers are much hardier then say tomatoes and such. I think they will fine in the potting soil, though I do suggest something like a commercial seed starting mix, like Jiffy when starting things from seed inside.

Thank you vfem. I'm hoping you are right. These are dwarf sunflowers that can be raised in a pot. I plan on planting the giant ones in my garden when the time comes. I have started my tomato plants and used seed starter for them but did not have any more left, and used the MG instead for sunflowers. Hope it works!

I've always started my tomatoes in potting soil.... maybe I'm just lucky because they do just fine.
