:bow @baymule ! Jeez I could have used that shelf building tutorial before I built the shelves in my garage! They work, but you should see them, well no you shouldn't.
Great job, I'm impressed!... and adding the color in there is a neat idea.

When we built our kitchen addition, BIL took our plans to a contractor he knew for the blueprints, materials list, etc. Contractor drew up different plans, he said walk-in pantries are a waste of space and outdated, so he took it out. I told him I don't care what you think, it's my kitchen and I'm having a walk-in pantry! Now, 20 or so years later, I see they're putting them in a lot of new homes. :p

@moxies_chickienuggets maybe instead of trying to "save" some of your room additions, you would be better to just tear them down. It would reduce your taxes and you can't use those rooms in their present state anyway. Weigh it up between time, energy and money to save them or just rip them down. Keep the rooms you want and need, to heck with the rest. Just a thought.[/QUOTE]

Well, maybe so...but property taxes are $400.00 for the year. I have some thoughts on taking the old bathroom and putting in "inside" on the other end of the built on porch room...however...it seems to be just hardboard over joists on the floor. :idunno I wouldn't be surprised if it is.

I mentioned it a time or two to the hubby, but he gets his mind set on his own ideas and refuses to consider mine.
One of his ideas for now is to put steel beams over the main house, build a roof over that, rip out the main house roof,
and then..... :idunno Now, he wants to do this WHILE we are living in the house. And.....the permit guy drives by the house daily he says...so.......that means hubby would have to run the building plans through county permitting first.

Okay, break it down...the actual build. What are the steps, $$, man hours, people needed....to lay that fist steel beam on a foundation into the ground, at the corner of the house. Multiply that by.....8. :th
Time wise.
Physical expenditure.
How many people.
How to dig the foundation (at what depth and how far away from the house piers)
Etc...etc...etc

Oh...did I mention that he wants to fell 3 trees too? This place is a mess......really.:ep

I have enjoyed 2 pantries in my adult years. Both in the early 80's. Unfortunately, they weren't something I could take with me when I moved. :hit

NICE, Our vacant lot (2 acre garden spot) has nearly $600 year taxes. The house....MUCH more. :(

Oh,I have heard stories. But I guess I have never owned any property that had a high property taxation.
