Also pellet stoves require electricity to power the auger feed.
At least that was the case with my parents pellet stove.
They liked the convenience of buying the pellets bagged by the ton, and also the neatness of it. No wood crumbs and large amounts of ash to clean up.
The drawbacks were that the stove wouldn't operate when the power was out and it didn't retain heat very long when the fire wasn't burning.
