They didn't keep him too long, thank goodness. Bless his heart, he tried to hang in there and not complain, but this hospital was nutz! We spent 10 hours in the ER before we even saw a doctor and it was 25 hours in a room in the ER until they finally had a bed ready and admitted him. He got out this evening and has to give himself a blood thinner shot in the belly twice a day for 3 months. We've had to give the horse so many shots over the years, he's not worried about giving one to himself.
The ER will just wear you out, so busy. DH had to stay in ICU several extra days because there were no rooms and other people were backed up into the ICU.
When I was at Dad's yesterday, he handed me an old pill bottle with a few tomato seeds in the bottom that he had saved from what he had labeled "big red and purple tomato". He couldn't remember if it was one I gave him or someone else did, but I'm betting it is either Cherokee Purple or Black Krim, both of which I have grown in the past, but not last year. My parents used to have a big garden when I was a kid, but I have never known my dad to save or grow out any tomato seeds. I am really looking forward to growing these for him. It must have been a really good tomato for him to bother saving the seed!
That will be a personal heritage tomato for you Amanda. One you can name after your dad and hand down to your kids. It can be the spark to evoke many memories, the best ones, of your father.
