Yes, I’ve been in some of the largest in USA. IF masks protect, that should be the last place to have a problem.

So with all the different locations, different people, heavy traffic, why haven’t Walmart’s been a breeding ground?
In the packing plants, possibly close proximity + forced air circulation? I can't imagine they work those lines without fans.

Walmart, to its credit, has made major changes to support the safety of both customers & employees. My hat's off to them, they are no longer the local "plague ship". I wish more of the local grocers & big box stores would take their responsibility for customer safety as seriously.

well for us i can say this, we haven't been to either Walmart or Sam's Club for three or four months. they are both in the more populated areas away from us and closer to the city. normally we would go one or two times a month depending upon how much Mom was baking. it also happened to be near our favorite Chinese food place and the Asian food market i liked to pick up some spices and other odd things. and also near our decent health food store and Gordons Food Service where we could get some baking supplies. so not having been to those places since cases in the county went from nothing to 740. our local towns have so far reported only a few cases each, the one that we frequent the most has had the most cases, but less than 10.

of the confirmed cases the rough death toll has been about 1 in 10, but as you get older the rate is skewed so... nah, i don't need this and hope to continue to ride it out until a vaccine is available. have we had it already? dunno, may have, but hard to be sure without a test. do i want to take my chances or for Mom to be exposed? no, for sure, no.

@flowerbug Not wanting to take a Chance makes sense-my wife is paranoid about she’s going to die from it so I do all the shopping-not a job I enjoy as I’m tired of all the old women walking down the middle of aisle, not allowing me by and then they want to talk to the cashier about their life-ignoring the long line behind her. (Another thread)

All I am asking is why social distancing (which isn’t happen8ng in stores) hasn’t spiked an out break. Or why the meat packers where they have always been required to wear masks and are socially distanced, had an out break. Some things do not add up.

meat packers were not required to be socially distanced and until recently they probably weren't. now that they are facing worker shortages and being shut down because people won't come to work they're going to have to change their ways.

i guess you haven't been reading the news. stores here are only allowing so many people at a time and keeping both distance and masks in place. that doesn't mean that every person is following these rules, but if enough are and there are not that many infectious people around then that does limit the rate of spread.

1). They have excellent air removal as well as kept cold.
2). This was not meant to be a Walmart slam but an example where social distancing is not practiced and you have many people from many different environments in the same enclosed building. 50 people in church is a cause of concern but 100 people in a store-no problem. (Counting staff, delivery people and customers)

Have you been to a commercial meatpacking facility?

As you stated before, you are not going to the stores, I AM, social distancing is not being practiced. Again, why with so many people from different environments aren’t they seeing the out breaks. Many employees at the commercial meat packing plants suspect that their employees are calling in sick, collecting their pay, and Enjoying their vaca. Here in Indiana, most of the employees are Hispanic and live in very close proximity to each other. Some are sharing houses since they are on different shifts.

This week my company has made it mandatory that all mechanics that work within 6' of each other on projects wear mask and gloves at all times. We as a company have been processing 100's of loads of un-processed chicken from all the major poultry plants in the state. They come in bleed, plucked and uneviscerated. When i say 100's of loads to put it in perspective, we have been processing 45 truck loads a shift for 3 shifts everyday for 2 weeks now. This is just to de-populate the market we are being told. From what im hearing our plants out west and on the east coast are dealing with the same thing with Hogs and Cattle. when this is over there is going to be a huge void to fill and it wont happen over night.

Um...our Costco had a confirmed Covid19 employee. He stupidly id'd himself on social media. WM and our Home Depot have been the most strict, with Costco following up behind them on store conditions. Safeway follows right behind. Tons of restrictions, lines, cleaners, employees with masks, counting the numbers in and out...its the stooopid customers who are clueless or indifferent. Yeah, we've only had 49 cases and zero deaths in our county, but really people? Its not gonna get better, even tho there has been no documented case here since April 24th. I for one, will continue to use my pretty homemade mask whereever I go.
