The old incandescent bulbs are the ones that produce heat. A 100 watt bulb really produces some heat! Use use a bulb just for light because I have enough fat birds to keep each other warm. One year we had an extra cold winter. I had to use a heated water bowl in the house. We have roosts which the chickens love. The bowl was ofter spilled by the birds. That cause the bedding to freeze. I had some younger birds that were not allowed on the roosts by the older ones. A few of them got frozen feet because of then unusual winter, and a few dies. I was abole to save a few used antibacterial ointment on their feet. It was a disaster. So now I make sure my birds are old enough and no longer put water inside their house. I just put fresh water out 2 times a day in the cold. In most winters that is not too long a stretch of cold.BUT a light bulb DOES produce some heat, which could be enough to make your chickens more comfortable during the winter.

I also have a coop on legs. I have put plywood to block the wind from the north, the west and the south, plus the 100 gal horse water tank is stored for the winter right outside of the coop on the west side, ON it's side to keep critters from wintering there, and it helps to block the west winter wind.
I keep the feed bowl underneath the coop to keep the feed dry.
The directions tell you not to.I always keep my heated water bowl OUTSIDE. Here is last winter:
