That is trick by body shops. Yes, vehicle is worth more than restoring it. Then once into project "unexpected" things show up. Then it becomes a $$$$ pit. As you did not want to take a huge loss. With repairs, partially restored worth no more than truck was before it was touched.

My nephew is picking up truck this afternoon. He stopped by shop and was told truck not ready, he said he was coming back with police. He said it was grand theft auto, was told to pick up truck at 4pm

problem is if they already did any work to it you would still be out the money for that work. still ridiculous it isn't done by now.
