Marshall,
Where I planted the peas initially is no longer my row. It will be another farmer's. He traded me for rows near the house, where I can easily water them with the hose in case the irrigation system is inadequate. Also, I think he plans to furrow that area one more time, so those peas will end up destroyed if I don't move them.
I just now counted, and there are only about 80 peas left out there.
Last night's transplants look great, and so do this morning's. I am psyched. I have 33 more holes left to plant, but I need a snack before I do so.
I did accidentally transplant a clover. It looked and tasted a whole lot like a fancy pea to me, but it's not.
I hope I am getting a nice variety of peas. I planted about 7 kinds and am not sure what I'm transplanting, but I'm picking and choosing from all along the 2 big rows, so I'm in hopes I'm getting diversity.
I think I will leave some peas out there without transplanting. I don't think I have the energy to transplant all 80 of them. HAHA. And I did reseed peas on April 7. They are not up yet. The ones I planted on St. Patrick's Day look great!
Also, I am thinking that in some of the shovelfuls are seeds that haven't quite pushed through yet. Even if the larger peas don't survive transplanting, I'll bet the seeds that are just now sprouting will do just fine. So that's great!
It's sure a fun experiment. :>)
