The official court date to settle the lawsuit in front of the judge is the last Thursday and Friday in May (27th and 28th?) -- figuring the case will take about a day and a half in court. It is sounding more and more possible that the neighbors will find a way to settle without taking it that far. Thank you, super-memory! Every day that passes I remember another factoid that puts the disputed land firmly to our side.

Who expects to have a court case based upon what happened some 37 years ago during the normal ebb and flow of daily life? Special events are easy to remember, but remembering what you ate the third Thursday of August, 2013, is not.

I have always been the official memory keeper of the family. Just ask DH! I remember every think and every time he made a mistake. (I would never bring them up in an argument, but they pop up every once in a while in another context.) I am just as quick to remember the things that I did wrong and bring them up from time to time as well. There are so many cases of the old neighbor and us sharing the work and the play together that using part of that time to find 20-years of "Exclusive Use" just isn't happening for the new neighbors.

Thank you, friends, for the hugs. I am not complaining about my precious DH, just finding a safe way to put his activities in perspective and not let them bother either of us. Talking to ya'll does help me.

Not to be a downer but the end of May seems a long way off. I guess it will be here before we know it. Hopefully then you can look forward to peace with a lighter heart. You and baymule sure have gone through trials and tribulations. Just hang in there and know we are behind you.

Once you win, do you plan to put up a fence marking the original property line?

In my counter suit, all I asked for was a fence that would keep their dog out of our property. They asked for attorney fees, incidental costs, etc. etc.

Yes, I do expect there will be a fence. The judge should order it put up. I realize that I will be putting up half of the fencing as well, but my half is out in the field, not between the buildings and yards. My half is also tree free already, while their half is littered with shrubs, trees, and misc tree parts. Some fencing is easier than others to put in.
Was it Robert Frost who wrote good fences make good neighbors ?
Yes, it was.

Major, Mary, I am not the drawer-dropping type. I wouldn't be averse to throwing a big party, but I am not getting the police called for something like that. (And they would!) I think loud roosters and smelly pigs near their back door is getting even enough for me.

I hope you know we were only joking.
