Carol, do you know how amazing your weight loss is? Statistically, at our age, very few people have the will power and drive to take that much weight off and keep it off.
You may have said already: have you totally changed your relationship with food? What is the main thing you are doing differently? besides making yourself walk and exercise more? Are you on a low carb diet or any other particular kind of diet?

Weight Watchers... I LOVE IT. :love

Good Going @digitS' if I had worried to get gains off as they occurred instead of letting them accumulate I would not have had so much to loss now. Smart guy ;)

That is a good thing, Steve.

Just a reminder that winter returns to the "border, ID/WA (!)" much earlier than to South-est, central-est Wisconsin. Put those last 2.5 pounds behind you quickly, please.

I fear it was those last 2.5 pounds that came into winter with me these past 300 years all adding up that were my bane.

For me, it was double that. 2(2.5)=5.

I'd lose 10# with no special effort. Then, with no effort of much of any sort, I'd gain 15#.

Five years of doing that, the trendline stretched out before me ... I had gone from 175# to 200# in just a few short years!

You can do it Steve! I'm just happy that I have been maintaining the 3 lbs that I have lost so far. That darn scale seems to be stuck though!

Here's a little tip on cutting calories without any (apparent) deprivation.

You luv waffles for Sunday breakfast, right? You already have emptied the bowl with your required two servings of fruit or, you're working on it. Your two waffles arrive at your place at the table ... what? You don't eat two waffles for breakfast? Okay, how ever many you eat. You know, they come in quarters, fold them.

Yeah. You've got one on top the other :). Forget the butter and syrup. Get out the jar of Simply Fruit®. Pull off the top waffle layer and slather it on the bottom waffle. Replace the top waffle layer. Now, turn your combined waffles. Bottom is now on top.

They are hot. The fruit preserve is now soaking into the second waffle. You have reduced your calories by half by not slathering jam or pouring syrup on both waffles.

No need to thank me for this tip. I've already eaten my reward.

Here's a little something else.

Important help, focusing on the diet (& exercise!):

Good advice @digitS' I have been pretty good at avoiding the foods that caused most of my weight gain, but when I REALLY want it, I eat in moderation. :)

I keep trying to come up with little tricks to enjoy what I enjoy without overdoing it, Carol.

It's something I'll need for winter when pushing myself back from the table is just NO fun! ... I haven't come up with too many good ideas. I think the two servings of fruit with each breakfast is a good idea but I only go from a 50 calorie/tablespoon to a 40 calorie/tablespoon with the Simply Fruit preserves.

Ripe fruit is a high sugar food at about 10% across the board. That's kinda okay. It keeps my focus off the processed food products - like the cereal in my bowl.

I just don't have much trouble losing a little weight during the growing season but that's because of exercise. I can't imagine sustaining that level of exercise during the other 6 months of the year ... unless ... I was to move to South America ... or Australia ... and, garden 12 months outta the year.

:D Steve
