Yeah up were your at it's probably about twice as bad. We nearly ended up living in the Upers of Michigan, this winter is making me sure glad we didn't.
I think sometime this (or next?) week we're supposed to get a record-breaker here. Windchill down to below - 55*. Try not to freeze up there!
Tree? Are you talking about the one to the top right corner that is just the branch attached to the tree? There would usually be a lone Black Cherry tree standing in the middle of the cornfield but you surely couldn't see that!
The winter of 1978 was a doozy for sure. That photo could be of our road except they could plow only one lane for most of January and February. We had 5 school days that January and there were many roads that didn't get plowed at all until the March melt had started.
I will admit those roadsides are a bit higher than we had. Still if I could have laid plywood from one roadside to the other, the bus would have had no trouble getting through.
If this is a real picture, it is not here in the USA. The cars are driving on the wrong side.
We received another 5 inches Sunday night. With the winds, drifting is getting to be a serious problem. Lucky me, I don't have to go anywhere unless I want to.
However, it is a major trek to get to the chicken coop with all the snow. Last night I found the heat lamp was dead so I risked life and limb today to get another red light before tonight's -20 degrees (F) hits. Poor feathery babies had ice water. Without a heat lamp the water-heater unit isn't enough to keep water wet.
AND I lost my first egg today ... frozen solid and cracked. I hope CeeCee enjoyed the treat.
@seedcorn ... Well I was going to post a photo of my white stuff, but now it will look like a dusting!
@Red ... Sending warm thoughts for your chickens!
I really have no right to complain much, I don't have to be out in it either, til tomorrow eve. Our 5th school closed day is tomorrow, they were closed today also... -22 tonight, near -50 windchill. Who would have thought, I should have planned a January vacation to Alaska!
