I'm not wanting to cut out the pine tree just to put in the pond. Realizing that I either need to go a foot deeper or shrink the footprint & loose water volume.
Looking at my current pond, 15ft wide is roomy. 20ft needs the tree cut.
But since I want to paddle around in it, I'm thinking that I need at least 30ft length.

4,800 current gallons.

15x30x4 is 13,400. 2.7 times larger.
15x35x4 is 15,700. 3.2 times larger.
15x30x5 is 16,800. 3.5 times larger.
15x35x5 is 19,600. 4 times larger.

I've got a lot of fish, so they'll appreciate the upgrade, no matter the size.

I don't want to go deeper than 5ft, harder to clean and deal with.

Marked out 15×30 foot area. It looks like the best fit.

You can see the slope here and it drops off on the left about 1.5ft. The fence on right used to be on left and kept it from eroding.

The fence at right will be removed & replaced with tposts & 4×4" panels.

Getting closer to that stump means I'll have to have it removed and dirt compacted down in the hole it leaves.

I can use this in between space for the filters.

You think that's enough surface agitation?

Window screen box I made for the smaller pump won't work for this one.
So, I need to make a bigger one, with larger holes.

Placing it under shallow water, I think it works better for aeration.

I lost the "grandpa" koi a few days ago, the white with grey patches. 😢
Could smell it through the filters before I found him. Too mangled to tell what caused it.

Anyway, others seem quit happy with the new pump.

I found a dark fingerling, homebred. Since the shade is up, its very difficult to get good video of it. =/

Newly found dark fingerling, 1-2 orange/yellows, one of the big pale yellows & that small grey pictured previously, they'll be caught and sold once the time comes.

I'm hoping they'll spawn now that there's far more oxygen and upgraded filters.

Hmmm why does this happen? We have had that happen too. Last week one of our two BIG koi died. :hit Every other fish in pond looks o.k. Of course it was the prettier of the 2. The one with orange spots.

People don't seem to breed fish the same way other animals are bred, more carefully and strictly. Worse, they rename fish types. So if it's born white, black n red, it's a showa...Until it looses the red and changes to a bekko! Even though genetically, it's still a showa, just a bad one that looses a color! Now instead of being bred as a showa, it's magically a bekko in breeding and you end up with fry you didn't expect. Some patterns and colors aren't complete in some lines and this willy-nilly breeding may be the cause.
But I'm no koi breeding expert.

The color literally vanished overnight! 😭
You can see the faint color of where the orange used to be here-

Now idk if I want to get rid of my home grown gin rin white with a red patch on the side. At the bottom left corner.
