Well, that's why I used to shut down the pumps for winter.
New pump's basket exploded.
Is new pump damaged, is the old pump and basket damaged?
Don't know yet.
Costly mistake. About 1200 to replace all 4, since old pump is no longer made and new one is more expensive. Ugh.

At least, I think, fish are alive and fine. Certainly no floaters, so that's good.

Lots to think about and replan...

1.5 inches thick ice over most of the pond.

Old basket has bottom crack. Might be fixable. Pumps have ice inside, not seeing cracks, will have to wait for them to thaw out and run water through them to check for damage.

Gotta raise ground where filters sit so that I can add a liner for leaks to go directly back into pond.
Cracked lid & valve. Need new parts before I can hook up & check pumps for damage.
Pond is so green, I hate it!

Got everything cut, replaced and glued for pump 1 to turn on once dry.
Got some of the parts and cut for pump 2, but waiting on 2 pieces to arrive before I can glue and run.

I've got one of the filters up n running again!
The liner under the bins is to catch n divert leaks back into the pond & not into the dirt, where it could eventually erode & collapse the ground into the pond.
The other filter should be up n running by Friday.

Old pond hole is filled!
Just need to shove dirt over some and then let it sink.
Will use some for the new pond, since it's so dry, clean and fluffy!
