Just thought I'd share a pic of today's harvest. Still no tomatoes, so far this year I have only got a couple of tiny ones (like less then 10) off of 40 plants.

I'm still harvesting squash both zuch and pattypan, and just started getting spaghetti squash, cukes, okra, hot peppers and radish.

Healthy looking veggies, Kassaundra! (including the Spaghetti Squash with the smile :).)

And, how about all that okra! Other than as a flavoring for soup, I wouldn't know what to do with it .

Way Off Topic: Do know anything about Pushmataha County? Dad was born there and it kind of seems you said your father was from about the same part of the state.

Thanks, yes I noticed the smile after the pic was taken! Before this year I never ate okra at all, just grew it for my chickens, but have discovered two ways it is good 1) dehydrated, I dust it w/ a spicey seasoning (cajun mostley but also a spicy oriental one too) after slicing it then dehydrate till crispy it is very good, this current batch I have tried dusting in cornmeal as well as the seasonings, don't know how well it worked just put the batch on a couple of hrs ago 2) leave the small pods whole and season w/ same seasoning mix (spicy) and either grill, broil, or saute them till well done, they are still a bit wet the texture is like a mix of asparagus and alvacado. Southerners slice and coat in cornmeal and pan fry, or batter and deep fry.

Yes, my father is living in Push county(has been for about 6 years), my Gma lived there for many years before she passed last year. (maybe 15 years or so) I have never lived there, but have visited many times. Small world!

Let's see . . . Grandmother couldn't have been a neighbor to Dad's family . . .

My grandfather was coming from the northeastern OK and grandmother was coming from Texas. They settled for a while there and had a batch of kids.

The family moved on to New Mexico in the early '20's ;).

I like Cajun seasonings!

Everything looks wonderful! Are those patty pans, tasty? I have only had them once, and they seemed to have the taste of summer squash-only in a cute shape!

They taste like a mild summer squash, they have been very prolific, MUCH more so then the yellow, and moderately more then the zuchini, mine are white, but they also come in yellow, and green, and a mix of yellow/green which are real cool looking.

Very nice looking! I love patty pans, also called scallop squash. I had a whole one last nite with some portabella mushrooms and a small piece of meat. Yummy!!

I have frozen all my freezer will hold so now I'm dehydrating "squash chips" my first batch were savory (garlic powder and chili powder) not a huge hit w/ my husband, so this batch is sweet, sugar and cinnamon, he has a sweet tooth so we'll see how it turns out.

Nice harvest Kassaundra, those pattypan make me want to plant some next year. I'm surprised you haven't gotten any tomatoes, was it heat that made it a bad year for you? I've had a very dismal tomato year here, in my case it was too cool for too long.
