I have a special love for those last fruits of the garden.... I need to harvest my brussels sprouts, beets, carrots and rutabaga. They are on the list for tomorrow. I should freeze some more chard, while I am at it. Enjoy your beautiful harvest! Have you ever tried braised radish? It is really good...

Love it, that is how I've been using it mostly, except when my brother comes over and steals my hot little radish (he loves the hot one eat them like apples). I'm thinking about trying to make some kimchi. I've eaten store bought and like it, but all the sites that talk about making it say it is very smelly and you need a second refrigerator. I'm also going to braise some to put in the freezer to see how it is after it thaws.

Those snow peas look beautiful Kassaundra. Are they easy to grow? What kind of trellis do you use? I think I would like to try growing some but not sure if they would do well for me.

I did snow peas in the early spring, and they didn't need a trellis. (I put one up, they didn't use it.) After some reading, I took that down and stuck some dead branches in among them. They used those for support.

Mine have always used a trellis. Yes they are easy to grow, in cool weather, they don't like heat at all. They can get powder mildew so trellising so there is good ventilation through the plant helps. I just use my fence, they are easy to clean out once they are done. I can get two plantings early spring and late fall. (my fall is more iffy since I have to start them when it's still hot, but if I choose my location where they get morning sun and afternoon shade it works okay. They are good to grow b/c they are sooooo expensive in the store, one of those luxeries you can really see a difference in the $$$$

Today's haul 11-27-11 (pinch me I can't believe I'm still harvesting from my garden) I nearly got frostbit collecting these veggies, and still have more in the garden, especally some massive turnips.

Wow, Kassaundra!

Look at that diakon!

. . . and, all those nice, vine-ripened tomatoes and other veggies! Those are great pictures of healthy food.

This was my first year for dakon, and color me impressed, they are huge and not bitter at all. I still have quite a few more to harvest of the dakon. I will definately plant more next year.

That is a truly impressive haul!!! Everything looks great! I harvested carrots and brussels sprout right out of the garden for Thanksgiving. Looks like we might have winter temps by the weekend. I love the idea that winter is starting a month late!! Enjoy all you veggies!
