One July evening in 2009, I looked up to see the dining room lit in a rosy glow, looked out the window to see a red sky. I wish I could have taken more pics but it took me awhile to find where I had left my camera:(. Nevertheless I got a few as it was going, going and then gone.

From the front porch looking south east, the rainbow. These pictures really don't do this sunset justice. I had never seen one quite this color before and haven't seen one since. The sky was on fire

Perhaps there was a forest fire somewhere afar off. The more particles there are in the atmosphere, the redder the sky will be.

@journey11 , you might be right although there were no fires burning that I knew of at the time. This is what we sometimes get when there's a fire burning, you can barely make out the sun in the middle down low in the picture. Everything's covered in ash, the same thing happened when Mt. St Helens blew, we were covered in ash for days.
