View attachment 9035 I used to have butter thief dog too! Back when I ran rescue, the dogs stayed at my Mom's when I was on duty. Mom kept butter in a dish on the table all the time. If she had to go out and forgot to pick it up, she would come home to find that Frankie had taken the bowl, eaten the butter - and then HID THE BOWL! She would find it in a potted plant, behind the sofa, under the bed...

... well the stuff Mom used was the butter colored sticks of ?
She kept it on the table so it would be soft enough to spread.
It wasn't until I was on my own that I found out that 'butter' wasn't SUPPOSED to have a little greasy pool......
- another reason that I can't wait till I can start making my own real butter from my own cow's milk!

SO - back to canning. I'm going to TRY some apple marmalade this weekend.
Anyone ever made it?

Let me know if apple marmalade tastes better than apple butter, which, IMO, taste good sometimes, but other times it's just...:sick
I have a lot of apples not harvested yet, and they don't get canned soon, they'll go to the chickens and the horses, even though the new (2008) fencing gave my horses their own Green Delicious tree to snack on.
