Now that the birds have stopped nibbling on my two year old Swiss Chard, I'm able to harvest some for sautéing.

I love zucchini and banana bread!Zucchini Bread.
For a second breakfast.
Looking through the freezer yesterday - lots of tomato pasta sauce. We need to be cooking more pasta.

Baked squash ... from the basement shelves.
It's the last of the squash and the only one of 3 without some decay. Quite surprised that there was one that looked fully intact this late! The others are going to the compost today. You know what that means. Yeah, seeds sprouting in the compost.
The squash from the oven had brown sugar and butter on it. Strange - the smell and taste were more like honey than brown sugar. I think that the starches are beginning to change to "squash sugar." Still, very nice.

today is bean and ham soup day. we had the leftover ham bone from my brother's place so we made about 5 gallons worth. we'll give them back some quart jars, freeze some for later and eat the rest.

Spring onions, spinach and radish. Ok some lettuce but mainly that is DW food.

Oh yum! That bread looks amazing!I made this bread with some zucchini flour and butternut squash puree. I love the color. We are having it for lunch so I'll post about the taste later.
Also are roasted sweet potatoes to go with lunch

With today’s lunch:
Covering the 2 backyard beds with plastic film in the Spring works well with the kale. I think that this is the 3rd or 4th time we have had it in the kitchen, from just a few plants.
All the plants were harvested vigorously thru 2021. There are another few plants outside the hoop house. Are they growing? Nope.
