Covering the 2 backyard beds with plastic film in the Spring works well with the kale. I think that this is the 3rd or 4th time we have had it in the kitchen, from just a few plants.

All the plants were harvested vigorously thru 2021. There are another few plants outside the hoop house. Are they growing? Nope.

I love fresh kale! So wonderful in homemade soups!

I just harvested some calamondins and purple broccoli (planted in summer and harvested in Spring).

The new flowers appear, so it's time to harvest all of them.

Chard.

I decided to leave a plant in one of the backyard beds that is covered in March with plastic film. It worked! Not only did the plant survive some sub-zero & some snow, altho a warm winter, but the covering prompted it to begin growing.

Only one plant and it may well begin now to bolt, don't know.

I amThrilled that the 5 (leftover from planting 18 at DD's house) asparagus ALL survived the winter!!
Eldest DD, the "chef" is adamant that we don't harvest A N Y until next year, so, sadly I stared at a big fat one for a good 5 minutes yesterday, sighed, then found something else to do outside, instead.
