Cimicifuga …hands down. The sweet fragrance can call everyone to look for the flower perfuming the garden.
A lovely soft scent.
This is what cam up for me when I searched "Cimicifuga" ...

@ducks4you I usually have to pull my begonias from the pot in late fall then separate the plant from the tuber. Let the tuber dry then store in wood shavings in a dark cool area until spring.
Thanks for the advice. Right Now, tuberous begonias are on my list of "bad boyfriends."
(For others, "bad girlfriends.")
Think of the song, "I will survive."
That is our family name for "things that disappoint us."
DD's have a short list of Anime Conventions that are on Their bad boyfriend list, like A.C.E.N.
(Anime Central., in Chicago.)
They would come back from this convention Year and Year after Year and complain, complain, complain.
I had enough of the gardenia that I bought and loved and slowly watched die that I will Never try That one again!

Heuchera’s is a versatile perennial,to start the season with attractive foliage and bell-shaped flowers. Also known as coral bells, they offer an array of colors and forms. Hardy impatiens mottled leaves and pop up in the shade garden. Hardy asters to end the fall season. They are all hardy thru any winter weather in the PNW mountains of Oregon.IMG_3840.jpegIMG_3829.jpeg

I grew alliums for the first time last year, and I couldn't be happier with the result. They add such a whimsical look to the garden :)
Allium "Purple Sensation"
...

i love to grow them, but there are certain ones you may wish to avoid (a darker purple one that has a smaller flower head - it's been a real challenge to get rid of because of how the bulbs form many many tiny children under the ground). i actually would like it to grow someplace else but i've yet to move any of them so perhaps it will not be back after all. :) we'll see what next season brings.

i like the blue shades, but they are not as impressive in size as some of the purple ones that can have such huge flower head.

Crocosmia is a favorite for pattern/shape. Daphne's aroma is hard to beat.
Lamb's ear for texture.
Dahlias are expensive for color, so I'm leaning to zinnias.
Too many favorites!
