whew, glad it was not a hot day. I put up 12 more pints of dill pickle spears, got more kale into the freezer and did 2 quarts of tomatoes. (Plan to do them as they come and not have to do a marathon event later!)
What's you dill pickle recipe? SIL says he loves them, so I don't mind making one batch.

I failed using the Mrs.Wages dill pickle packet last year. Over processed and they where mushy. :sick So this year I tried the Mrs. Wages Refrigerator dill packets. It makes 4 pints FAST and EASY. They came out crisp and so far everyone likes them! A Winner. :) I have found this product at Farm and Fleet, Theisen's (farm supply store) and the grocery store.

my mom has been freezing her tomatoes as they come and then canning them later in the year. keeps the house from getting too hot for her and dad. I like to roast mine and freeze them in sauce batches...yummmo!

I was swimming one year in crystal apple cukes and i used a Martha Stewart recipe for refridgerator dills. They were absolutely incredible!

Carrots replanted:
Carrot replant, 08-06-17 (1).JPG
9 packages of el cheapo carrots and one package of Burpee Kaleidoscrope Blend

Potatoes replanted:
I dug out all remaining potatoes, dug out every weed and tilled about 8 inches deep, including tilling in compost.

I kept these...

and randomly planted the tiny ones...

...and beets replanted--got too dark to take a good shot, so you'll have to wait until they emerge.
I want to encourage anybody to start a 2nd crop now! You don't know what the weather is going to do. This Fall is supposed to be warmer than usual, so I may (or may not) get to harvest the potatoes again. I WILL get a beet harvest bc you can harvest those small. You can dig up carrots after a freeze, so it's worth the try. :D

Your beds are so neat and tidy!! My goal one day. I'm not terribly organized in any part of my life especially gardening. I was supposed to pull green beans up today with the neighbor but we FINALLY got some rain. I know it's time to do fall crops just not sure what I want to put in. Hmmm decisions decisions.

I appreciate the industrious compliment AND yes, my dog, "Pyg", who is attached to me by the hip, sits and waits on me. I believe that dogs (and horses) need jobs to do to be sane. She is 10yo (November) and I correct when necessary, like don't cross our very quiet street without me, or, you have a choice, run after and bark at the hay man who is backing 240 bales on his trailor slowly towards my barn, where he cannot see you or, "basement." That was a week ago, and my 3 20-something's guys that I hired to help were amused bc Pyg went to each of them looking for a different answer.
Regarding neatness, you are very kind but THOSE comments should be reserved for @ninnymary! She works REALLY HARD to keep hers tidy. MINE look "tidy" when I pull all of the weeds. BUT, that's what is nice about living in the country...most people don't see your beds, the garden ones with weeds or the unmade ones in the house.
