Maybe your brother is watching what your family is going through and realizing time is short in this world, so if you always planned to do something, better get off your duff and just DO it. :D

How does that tea taste?

Kind of like green tea. One tea bag I really do not need sugar, but 2 I need sugar. My brother uses 2, so I have been doing that.

I had to look it up....very pretty!

An heirloom originally from Missouri, it was saved by squash seed collectors Sue and Tom Knoche of Sardinia, Ohio. Squash are tan and flesh is light and creamy with a distinctive, sweet taste of autumn. A real treat when baked and buttered (Aunt Linda can't get enough of this squash!). Also makes great squash soup. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that Thelma Sanders is sweet and delicious when eaten as an immature (summer) squash as well. Dense vining plants make a good ground cover for weed control. Fruit stores until February under good storage conditions. Seeds grown by Nature and Nurture Seeds.

More burdock wars!! I tilled up my chicken's run (except right under the coop). It is 12 x 30 ft. I only had time and energy to remove what I reckoned was 4/6 large (the one with two wheels) wheelbarrows full of tilled up run dirt. Each weighed over 200 pounds.
It's been over a year since I cleaned it. The smelliest area was where they dump out their feed. I dumped the wheelbarrows on top of poisoned burdock right next door in the South Pasture. I will probably finish shoveling the rest out this weekend and try to till it again in the Fall. If there are ANY seeds in it I couldn't see them. I am sure that it will make marvelous compost and grow really good grass this Fall.
I have over a dozen sweet peppers growing on the porch. I played pollinator this morning and did my best to move pollin from one of the 7 flowers to the others. They go in the ground this weekend, so we'll see if I was successful.
WHAT a gardening learning curve I am having this year! :weee

Set out Sugar Buns sweet corn plants. This is the second year for transplanting corn but if DW is willing to put seeds 72 to a flat, who am I to object?

At the spacing of corn in the garden, a large area is filled quickly. Seed will go in soon. With the sudden warm-up this year, I doubt that transplanting corn will give us any jump on the 2017 season.

Couldn't finish tilling chores. Had to get water on the tomato patch so couldn't till in weeds nearby. Broke a clevis pin on tines and later slowed to a stop in 90ºf heat! We are supposed to lose 20 of those 90º for today's afternoon but I have a non-gardening schedule for today. The last of the eggplants will have to wait. With the sowing of sweet corn seed - the veggie gardens will then be FULL!

Steve :)

Worst year yet we've seen for pollen here...we keep sweeping it off the porches and it collects on our bare feet in a layer of pollen dust when we walk on the porches.
