My computer is also a little over 8 years old and runs on Windows XP. I use Firefox but not chrome, doesn't work with my online schooling.

Get well soon, Nifty! :frow

Well this is a very scary place for me. :hide I'm not sure I can even do a post. It looks so busy and complicated and I miss those red tomatoes telling me when there was something I hadn't read. :(

Mary!

That "recent posts" link right up there under theEasyGarden.com is doing what it needs to do for me!

I started a thermonuclear war the first time I put digitS' to a computer keyboard. Once that was behind me, everything has been an improvement since.

Hated it at first. Some things are much easier-post pictures.

Seed has an avatar now! :) I'm still getting used to the layout, but I love how simple it is to post pictures, and no limit is awesome.
Good to see Mary made it, I was worried about that...

Well, speaking of "all chrome": I recently bought my wife a Google Chromebook for $199 and she loves it. True you can't do much outside of a browser, but these days people spend about 99% of their time in a browser window anyway.

It's nice how fast it turns on and it just works without bugs, etc... and the price can't be beat.

... but yes, I'd suggest sticking with Chrome or Firefox for your browser!

Nifty, my new laptop, almost a year now, is probably the same model you bought your wife, an Acer Chromebook, 199 dollars, with tax, added to 219 dollars and change. I really like it, but it is weak for some things. Surprisingly fast considering its rated speed, but its messenger chatting is basically nil. Luckily it does work with the little inhouse Yahoo instant messaging, and facebook's chat, both at basic levels. It really gets no viruses or malware that I can tell, unless there is some secret spy thing, but nothing that really slows it down. Its system for photos is truly weak though. So I did get my old Toshiba, 2007 model, fixed. A friend put a new hard drive into it and a few other minor things, and then he put in windows 7. Yesterday on that one I downloaded the Windows photo gallery with its photo edit system. I also put in the Google Chrome browser in it even though it has the latest hot rod internet explorer that now also has tabs. I also on that one downloaded yahoo's latest messenger. Sure enough, it has microsoft's updates to do. Doing those bogged it down this morning, and it began to take forever to install the 4th update of 55! After an hour of that I switched back to the faithful Acer Chromebook. I'm only going to use the Toshiba with windows for photos and movies that one of the campers here downloads for me. Those movies take a lot of gb's and that may be its present problem. Probably this morning I'll delete those I've watched.

Mary, it'll be alright. Yea, like Digit said, click the recent posts thing.

Maybe Nifty could add little Tomatoes somewhere around posts a person has not yet read.

I'd kind of like to make sure all our friends make it here.

Has BlueJay77 and Hal made it here yet?

Actually, MarshallsGirl Hayley from Sydney hasn't looked in on it yet. She's so computer smart. I'll ask her to come on in to figure out all the links and details.

Nifty, what are those Profile Messages about?
