Hey all!

So far the feedback on the other forum platform has been excellent! From an admin/moderator perspective I'm LOVING it!

My favorite features from a user perspective:

1) SUPER easy image uploading
2) Much easier text formatting (bold, hyperlinking text, etc.)
3) Auto-save of replies while typing. If I "fat finger" off the page I can come back and my post response has been saved!
4) The ability to subscribe to entire forum sections
5) Better control over what types of notifications and how often I receive them.
6) Threaded "conversations" (PM's) that make it way easier to follow a conversation between two (or more) people.
7) Ooodles of other cool features & stuff that makes using the site easier.

We've done multiple test conversions of the forum information from the site and from what we can tell, all the forums, topics, posts, users, passwords, PMs, subscriptions, etc. have all transferred over perfectly!

We're very confident that a move will be best for the users, moderators, admin, and community as a whole, and we expect to move forward on the conversion barring any huge roadblocks. We don't have a time schedule yet... it could be anywhere from a few weeks to a few months since we'll be doing a conversion of other sites first. We'll definitely keep you posted as we get a better idea of conversion timing.

If you have any questions or concerns, please post them here!

Nifty, will we have to re-sign up on the new format or will we automatically port over?
Nope, all your user info (userID, password, email, etc. and posts, PMs, etc.) will all be retained. You will have to login again, but you can use your existing username and password.

nifty, have been over the years either a moderator or administrator on different boards proboards or vbulletin, we have always had spammers will this new platform stop this?
but remodel forum sure has the same look as pro boards as in sub-boards.
just my two cents worth

vbulletin in usa yes users fee
proboards in usa free

XenForo in england<europe> users fee unknown/ less secure servers

do not know where this server is when i registered and had to go to my e-mail to finalize it with in hours all my contacts started to get e-mails which had spyware in them.

but it's your call....

While there isn't ever any way to 100% stop spam (well other than closing off the forums to new members) the spam management tools on the new platform are light-years ahead of here.

I just finished up a conversion of my very first forum and so far the members are really liking the new features and ease of uploading pics, etc.

An update:

We've successfully converted www.BackYardHerds.com to the new platform, and so far it's been received VERY well! You can check out some of the discussions and feedback here: http://www.backyardherds.com/forums/backyardherds-news-information-feedback.21/

We'll probably be moving to convert TEG to this exciting new platform very soon. There isn't really much you need to do to prepare since we'll be doing all the work on our side. The only thing you'll probably want to do is make sure you have your username and password available since you'll need to login to the new system once we move.

:thumbsup

Great! I'm looking forward to the upgrade. The easier pic uploading will make it all worthwhile for me.
