i don't think Michigan allows studded tires because of how much they tear up the roads. i'm not even sure chains are allowed. i've not seen them here but i have seen them used in other states (that have mountain passes).

At first I was worried about the studs because our snow arrival was late and I had to drive around with them on anyway. I assumed they'd wear down from the pavement, when they're supposed to be for snow and ice. They're also very noisy on pavement. But the fellow who put them on rims for me said the pavement and ice amount to the same thing for the studs. Seems hard to imagine, but I'm not a mechanic so he knows better. I need to ask him about this spinning out from a stop. It's odd.

We have an allowable season for studs; what i was aiming at with my summer traction statement was humor! We have studded tires mounted on a completely different set of wheels and each fall and spring we change them out.
most of us could give a rip about “damage to the road” we just want to stay on the road!
There’s places the ruts from studs pose a summer hazard due to the depth and the way they’ll pull your front end around!😳

Our’s have to be off by April 30th and can go back on September 15th.

After doing the best we could the snowy wilderness has been pushed back some and the fog lifted so i took a couple pictures.

The last picture is not mine but none the less, someones 36ft. Greenhouse. It was neglected and could not handle the load. The chink link is 6 ft. In the fore ground!😳

Our lovely forecast for this week. Looks like I may end up having the whole week before Christmas off as I don’t have to be back at work until Friday and the local authorities are discussing closing the roads Thursday night-Saturday.

That's pretty cold for your neck of the woods, @Artichoke Lover . Here it was -9 F. & windy when I woke up, with a wind chill of -35. Still -6 F. at noon. Lots of snow outside to shovel too, but I'm down with Covid Round #2, so won't be going outside until it either gets warmer, or I get better. Looks like the temp teeter-totter swings the other way next week, a big thaw arriving just in time for New Years Day.

Edit: The weather guessers really got it wrong this time, it never got above zero all day. Ironically, temps are supposed to rise somewhat over night - if I can believe that.

Right now we’re having a pretty good blow with sustained wind of 35-55 with gusts to 65 and ambient is 5For so.
I went to town today and the drive reminded me of when i worked on the slope. It’s supposed to subside by evening and on a positive note; half of the 3 ft of snow is gone off my roof! However, i did have a large tree fall across the greenhouse fence. So far none have landed on the greenhouse; thank you Lord for that!
